The Community Finance Canvas is a tool to help these groups of people identify the financial dimension of an initiative to create and manage one or more shared resources. This is where commoning comes in because the group are owners of the resource (or lessees), producers AND beneficiaries of the products and services.

The Canvas can be used at an early stage to explore potentials, or together with the financial spreadsheets that accompany the Canvas, to create or update a detailed business plan for the operation.
