= transmediale 2011. Panel: Lost in The Open? Navigating the Open Web and Free Culture / 02.02.2011

Description

‘Free’ and ‘open’ – it sounds so idealistic and limitless. The so-called Open Culture has produced many alternative approaches in dealing with knowledge and information, but, on the other hand, the utopias of free access constantly breed confusion. How free is ‘free’, actually? Can a social community preserve its openness long term? And how sustainable can systems that are freely available to anyone at anytime really be? This discussion focuses on the future agenda of the Free Culture movement and provides guidance for all those who are confused by too much ‘freedom’.
