From the reading notes of Michel Bauwens on Pekka Himanen's book, The Hacker Ethic:

"Pekka Himanen says that the current phase of the information economy has not abolished the Protestant Ethic but has in fact exacerbated it, through a process that he calls, The Friday-isation of Sunday. He describes the use of the mobile phone as a permanent emergency tool, and how home life has been 'optimized' by business methods. All our life has now become work-centered. But the next section deals with the attempts by hackers to reverse that process, through what he calls the 'Sunday-isation of Friday'. In medieval times, workers managed their own time."
