Contextual Quote
"Technological environments have to “retrieve” earlier history to flesh-out their impacts – as Marshall and Eric McLuhan made very clear in their Laws of Media: The New Science (1988) The Electric environment retrieved many of the Oral/Pagan attitudes – such as a fascination with mythology and tattoos. The Digital environment retrieves the Scribal/Christian approach (in the West) – which is why, to the extent the Catholic Church remembers, they are the right people to execute on this important retrieval."
- Mark Stahlman [1]
Description
"-As we have documented, Digital is retrieving “Spiritual Civilizations” worldwide. India. China. Russia. U.S.A. This “re-enchantment” process reverses the “disenchantment of the world,” as noted by Max Weber in his “Science as a Vocation” lecture (1918). It also brings into relief what appears to be resurgence of “Evil” (yes, Satan is a “Fallen Angel”) and has driven the attention this has stimulated."
