"In 1999 The World Institute of Slowness presented a vision for an entire 'Slow Planet' and a need to teach the world the way of Slow.

Today the Institute is acting as a Think-Tank for the Slow Revolution, and are one of the partners in the creation of SlowPlanet.com, the global internet hub for the Slow Revolution.

‘Slow production’ is another creation of the Institute. This is all about making the Slow Ideas come into the every day life of people of the world:

‘You are what we eat’ according to a common saying. The same principle applies to your thoughts: ‘You are what you think’;

Thus at the Institute we are aiming at bringing consciousness into the world of producing goods, foods and services for people. We want goods for people not consumers!

The World Institute of Slowness will always have as first priority to advocate and develop the slow philosopy. However, the Insitute also have a commercial unit aiming to develop various slow brands (with or without partners). The proceeds from the latter will contribute to the former.
