Description
1.
“WORLDPLAY is an opening move for a network that explores the revolutionary potential of play: What changes when we treat games as ways of organising, not just expressing? How do those changes expand from one gathering to many, carried by people, through their practice?
It's also the title of a new event series, conceived as a pop-up hub for prefiguring radical futures – economic, social and cultural – through fiction, design, performance and play. The first edition of WORLDPLAY issues a call to game designers and players, artivists, weird economists and utopian dreamers. “

WORLDPLAY is a new network, event series and pop-up hub for prefiguring and prehearsing radical alternatives through fiction, design, performance and play. Conceived as an "opening move for a network that explores the revolutionary potential of play," its inaugural edition took place from June 7–13, 2026 at the Commons Hub in Hirschwang an der Rax, Austria. It was organized by the Crypto Commons Association.
WORLDPLAY positions itself as a response to a "crisis of reality production," where oligarchs, platforms, and reactionary movements have learned to "stage fantastic parallel worlds" and "scale their fictions as power." The project asks "whether and how a collective revolutionary subject can produce and enter better fictions together."
The project is built around a "play-full 'fake it till you make it' theory of change." It brings together fiction writers, participatory theatre and game-makers, LARPers, artivists, hacktivists, weird economists, speculative co-designers, guerrilla futurists, organizers, researchers, and eutopian dreamers. The program combines curated sessions with unconference-style self-organization, with a strong emphasis on establishing lasting peer support and collaboration networks.
The project's initiators believe we need more IRL encounters, but also "better ways for distributed peer communities to stay connected after the intensity fades." It is interested in the difficulty of sustaining commoning across distance, work, precarity, exhaustion, and the return to "our separate little gardens."
The first edition was convened by:
- Rok Kranjc
- Pekko Koskinen
