Description

Bobby Fishkin:

" the Deliberative Poll (see cdd.stanford.edu or www.reframeit.com) handles decision-making itself rather well with a random sample of hundreds of people. But there are two limitations-- one is that the people who were not participants in the Deliberative Poll were not involved in the process and so feel a more limited buy-in to the decision. The diverse creative ideas harvested from orders of magnitude more people can also be extremely insightful and valuable. The Deliberative Poll can create a route to responsible advocacy across a much larger population, but it does not directly individually engage the external population beyond media coverage. That is why we are working on directly involving the broader population in deliberation that can allow their opinions to shift as well." (facebook, 11/2011)
