P2P Foundation Fundraising Policy
The P2P Foundation occasionally asks for donations to cover the costs of various aspects of its operations.
You can read more about the P2P Foundation Mission and the P2P Foundation Operations here.
We collect donations to cover costs in the following areas:
- P2P Foundation Seminars and Education
- Infrastructure for the P2P Foundation Knowledge Commons and P2P Foundation Blog
- Payment for service provides for maintenance of the Knowledge Commons infrastructure

The Foundation uses donations to cover costs. There are no cash bonuses, and we seek to engage volunteer help whenever possible. In many cases we hire service providers as a last resort to handle technical, mission critical security issues only when they are beyond the abilities of our crafty and skillful administrators.
We attempt to ask for donations as few times a year as possible. In the coming years we hope to run an annual campaign that will help us to cover the costs associated with a 3-year planned budget, allowing us to focus on other work besides fundraising.
We are working on initiatives that will allow donors to receive mail directly from the Foundation, instead of through our P2P Foundation Email List or through other outlets like the P2P Foundation Facebook Page.
