"Proof of Authority is a consensus algorithm that designates a small, identified number of actors within a blockchain network with the power to validate transactions and update the registry. This consensus algorithm is often implemented on private or consortium blockchains. The interest for these actors, often banks, is to gain auditability and thus reduce and optimize the costs related to their coordination."
