Newb was founded in 2011 with the aim to build an ethical and sustainable cooperative bank. As of 2018 it has over 100 ngo and non-profit investors and around 50.000 citizen investors. In order to build up its portfolio and to obtain a banking license in Belgium, it has started to offer some insurance products and a debit card.
