Refers to the key issue of how to reward contributors in peer projects.

Description

Generally, awards take the form of:

  • Earned point systems (e.g. Yahoo! Answers)
  • Explicit endorsements (e.g. linkedIn)
  • Peer rating systems and levels (e.g. Karma on Slashdot)
  • Prizes (e.g. threadless.com)
  • Recognition (e.g. open source code candidacy)

(summary from 'Hopper' in the Cooperation Commons mailing list)
