Open State Foundation is a Dutch foundation that works on digital transparency by opening up public information as open data and making it accessible for re-users. They believe that it will strengthen democracy and create substantial civic and economic value. The Open State Foundation was founded in 2012 through a merger of Stichting Het Nieuwe Stemmen (The New Voting Foundation; founded in 2006) and the Hack de Overheid collective (Hack the Government; founded in 2008).
