"Local money is created when businesses make donations, all in local dollars, to community groups of their choice. Community groups can spend the money in signed-up businesses, top up wages, or exchange their community dollar donations for Canadian dollars with anyone (dollar for dollar). Community way allows local businesses to support community groups without any cash costs, helps community groups fundraise, and makes it easy for everyone to donate without losing any of their buying power (as the money has equal value and is accepted all over the community).
