Description

Sara Silva et al. :

"Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS), operating in India's arid and semi-arid regions for nearly 50 years, has dedicated itself to restoring water abundance, reviving river watersheds, and promoting sustainable development. Responding to villages devastated by water crises, TBS's work highlights the importance of transcending geographical and cultural boundaries to regenerate ecosystems and enhance sustainable livelihoods, offering a replicable model for similar efforts worldwide. Achievements to date include the revival of 14 rivers, an increase in forest cover by 30%, turning 70% of barren land into cultivable land, saving five rivers from encroachment, and training over 25,000 water conservationists. TBS has also built a network of 10,000 'Jal Yodhas' (Water Warriors)."
