I am currently coordinating the development of a Natural Building-Science program at the Blue Quills First Nations college in St. Paul, Alberta, Canada.

There are multiple issues of interest here. The primary ones revolve around the issue of sustainability and empowering the first nations to become sovereign once again. Sustainability is a global issue and fundamentally stems from a holistic view of the mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health of the individual. If this individual is aware of these four levels then there will be an element of interdependence, not independence. This is the beginnings of sustainability on a personal and, therefore, global scale. If it is understood at this level, then we can begin to build healthy shelter and grow healthy food. My intention is to develop this understanding with the Cree nations at this college and to share this learning as open-source for others to collaborate and improve upon. My healing is your healing, your healing is my healing. This is true sustainability and the foundation of appropriate technology.
