My passion is helping to make positive change happen. That has led to a diverse range of career roles primarily in the arts. First as a professional musician in London, co-founding ground-breaking groups such as Orbestra - then to Music55-7 as an Artistic Director and now to Voluntary Arts Ireland as their Chief Officer.

I am driven in the end by ideas - if I feel the idea will make a real difference and that I can contribute to it then I am compelled to get involved. I want to build things I believe in with others.

My current role with Voluntary Arts Ireland gives me the opportunity to engage with both grass-roots groups and citizens bring creativity cultural activity to local communities and the government agencies and policy makers that help create the environment that nurtures these activities. I work with a highly creative team and together we champion creative citizenship and cultural commoning - voluntary groups and individuals contributing to a healthy, creative and engaged civic society.

As a voluntary director of Wall2Wall Music I am also involved in a range of community music, music education and cross-artform initiatives that seek to engage people in exploring their own creativity. I believe that having space in your life for creativity is vital.

My family plays a major role so being a good example and achieving a life well-lived are ultimately what I am after.
