I am a professor of communication at Northern Illinois University who promotes a sustainable world. I teach organizational communication that attempts to embrace a different world in a world very different from one of our parents or grandparents. I grew up in the home of a small business man where I observed many of the basic issues confronted by owners and workers of a small business. My father's company became a union shop after violence against his company presumably because he was a nonunion company.
