Prior to his retirement, Eric worked many years with a number of public-listed companies in the property development industry in various capacities in Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and most recently China. The various projects involved residential, commercial, industrial, hoteling and tourism sectors. The experience and expertise acquired enabled Eric to formulate the sociable home (SOHO)/Hypercube concept and its related SOHO technology: a holistic approach to integration of local, global and cosmic perspectives, effectively turning houses to homes to community, yielding a “great good place.”

In addition, Eric is also actively involved with Airbnb (as a homestay host), Couchsurfing (as a host), training and workshops (particularly in digital literacies and life-long learning), the sharing economy and the development of the commons. These constitute the major components of the proposed program (“Third Choice: Rich, Poor or Hypercube”).

Being an entrepreneur himself, Eric has been doing extensive research on various aspects of information and communications technology and mobile technology, business incubators, mentoring and other corporate matters. However, he is convinced that the world is trending towards the widespread adoption of the networked commons to solve many socio-economic-environmental-political issues, hence the importance of digital literacies and life-long learning.
