Bricolab (a.k.a.) Michael Pick
Biodata
28, male, English, completing second masters (this one in education, first in Film), living in Tokyo, under consideration for PhD studentship at Bournemouth Media School.
Interests
I am an active participant in and researcher of Open Source Culture, peer to peer sharing, and the Commons. Led by a strong belief in the power of distributed cognition, communities of practice and the creative potential of Web 2.0, I am also very much interested in 'spill over' from the net to the streets.
Web
My website, Bricolab.com, has been set up to foster collaborative authorship, with an emphasis on the effects that collaboration is having, and the potential it has, in the world of creativity, communications and self expression. Divided up into a Blog, which is a source of news, commentary and resources; a community ProjectSpace (using the very versatile Elgg platform) in which to collaborate via blogs, community forging, tagged information and legal filesharing; and a Wiki set up as a sandpit for the shaping, exploration and recording of the project.
Contributions
In Wikiland, in addition to my efforts at Wikipedia I have signed up to collaborate at Meta Collab and Peer to Peer Foundation, and am looking forward to contributing to both projects.
PocketPacket
Finally, I am currently work on the first big Bricolab project - a face to face peer to peer project known as PocketPacket. The PocketPacket is a means of delivering creative commons/Free GNU content into the hands of perfect strangers. More can be read about that at PocketPacket.org and the ongoing coverage of events over at Bricolab.com! We really need people to get involved with this.
Invitation
Your contributions would be very welcome, as would your signing up for the collaborative community, where you can host your own blog, files, communities and RSS feeds for nada.
