The Metoo campaign and the fight against power abuse

Blockchain and Tokenization

Arthur Brock:

"You know I'm no big fan of blockchain and that's why we've built a more scalable alternative. But in this case, even I feel like I need to say one thing in its defense. Blockchain has already found its one killer app: tokenization. And that's about all it's good for -- Trustless infrastructure for making and transacting tokens. That's what Bitcoin and every other cryptocurrency is. That's what all the ICOs run on.

Blockchain's potential has been way overblown as if it will solve lots of other problems that it doesn't. Most people who think it will, are really talking about something like Holochain.

It doesn't do it fast. It doesn't do it cheaply. But blockchain can make and manage lists of cryptographic tokens fairly robustly for a first generation iteration of software.

Now the problem is that people have this hammer and are looking for nails. So everyone is running around tokenizing everything so that they can try to grab some cash in an ICO. Tokenizing just doesn't solve that many problems well.

But there are real reasons to have decentralized systems that enable new ways of organizing ourselves, and those will before long spell the end of the centralized approaches (at various scales)."
