Moulton's comments:

"The anachronistic governance model which Jimbo Wales foolishly and mindlessly introjected into Wikipedia is simply not a sustainable model in this day and age. Summary and capricious banning wasn’t even a sustainable model some 3750 years ago when Hammurabi first singled it out as an unacceptable practice in a civilized culture."

...don't seem to reflect an understanding of Jimbo or Wikipedia. Summary and capricious banning does occur but is not a norm instituted by Jimbo - rather it has developed in some quarters relatively recently. Even most of those whose practices I disagree with (See Wikipedia Controversies#Turning deletion into a good faith process}} are not acting capriciously but in what they see as the best interests of Wikipedia.

To characterize the develop of Wikipedia as foolish and mindless seems to me to reflect a very poor understanding of how things actually developed. --Chriswaterguy 11:15, 12 December 2008 (PST)
