Talk:Systematic Ideology

I have recently finished a book by Michael Rosen titled On Voluntary Servitude---False Consciousness and the Theory of Ideology.

From there I ended up reading about Methodical Individualism which seems to be about the relationship between the individual and the collective sh/e is part of.

In my experience the collective tends to want to control/manage the individual. For example the emphasis tends to be on "duties" before "rights".

This tentative conclusion comes from many discussions about Unconditional Basic Income (UBI, aka. Universal BI) as a replacement for the bureaucratic targeted welfare provision system.

"Ideology" as essentialy false consciousness?

In Theodor Adorno's phrase, "ideology is neessary false consciousness"

"In what sense is ideological consciousness "necessary'? In what sense 'false'?" (Michael Rosen)

From the page: "...characteristics that make up the major ideologies come in sets; that those sets of characteristics form a series; and that the ideological series forms a system..."

Trying to makes ense of this: sets (colletion, group, complex?) of characteristics>>> series>>> system (of characteristics?)

I am very interested in in this field becauseI believe that "what we believe", sic, "drives what wethink and do". for example, if our beliefs about human beigs are "theory x" type (after McGregor) our world view willbe quite different fromone that would follow from a "theory Y" type of belief.
