Typology
There are three dominant views about the relationship between humans and the ‘nature within themselves’:
Social Constructionism
Human nature does not exist or does not matter, because we are culturally, historically, and therefore socially constructed, and thus, we can change ourselves and our societies.
Sociobiology
Like animals we have a nature and purpose that is related to the survival of our species, and our successful adaptation to natural conditions.
Biotechnology
We are animals rooted in biology and we can change and enhance our natures by manipulating biological constraints.
