Bio

"Greg Van Alstyne is a designer, educator, researcher & futurist in Tkoronto (Toronto, Canada). Co-creating in culture, communication, complex systems, strategic foresight, media ecology, regenerative design, strong sustainability & flourishing, since the 1980s. Greg's research interests include the relationship between design and emergence in innovation ecosystems; futures of digital media; speculative design; critical data literacy; and visualization. Among his research & innovation roles, Greg was co-founder of DesignJam.ca (OCE-ONE); co-investigator for Digital Governance (SSHRC), Urban Futures panel for Imagining Canada's Future (SSHRC), Economic Futures for Ontario 2032 (OPS), and 2020 Media Futures (OMDC). Prior to his OCAD appointments, Greg held senior media, design and education positions including founder, Department of New Media at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and inaugural director of the alternative design school, Institute without Boundaries (IwB)."
