Description

Richard Schulte:

"Community Bills of Rights Home Rule (http://celdf.org/home-rule), the fundamental Rights of Nature (http://celdf.org/rights-of-nature-background) and can be used for a wide array of things - eliminating corporate personhood, giving people the freedom to choose what they want to do with their bodies, protecting neighborhoods from fracking or coal exploitation, etc. In general, these Bills can allow a community to exert self-control in ways that can be defended against state and even federal law in court.

One might wonder if this approach - local self governance - may lead the way to a new paradigm of political organizing and legally exerting our power as people within our communities. It creates pathways towards direct democracies that we might have never thought possible before." ([1])
