Edgar Barroso Born in Mexico in 1977, Barroso is a PhD Candidate in Music Composition at Harvard University under the guidance of Hans Tutschku and Chaya Czernowin. During his time as a PhD student he also has worked with Brian Ferneyhough, Helmut Lachenmann, and Michael Gandolfi.

His works have been interpreted in important forums in North America, Ibero-America, Asia and Europe. During 2006-2010 he received several National and International Prizes in Music Composition and Multimedia. He currently has a CONACYT – Fundación México en Harvard Fellowship. Lately, his work has divided between music writing, social activism and the study of interdisciplinary collaboration. He is the founder of the Open Source Creation Group [www.opensourcecreation.org] dedicated to the realization and analysis of multi-disciplinary social cooperation.
