Maria Bareli is an economist, currently pursuing her PhD in Sociology/Social Anthropology (University of Crete, School of Social Sciences, Sociology Department, Greece). Her main research interests involve the commons and gift theory- issues that have emerged from her field of study- that is the annual festivals of the Greek island of Ikaria.
