Commons Abundance Network
Description
Wolfgang Hoeschele:
"CAN will be a platform where people can find out about commons-based initiatives related to "NORA" (Needs, Organizational forms, Resources for Abundance) - that is, for any need and for any resource that needs to be managed, one will be able to find out about appropriate organizational forms for fulfilling that need or managing that resource. Beyond that, it will provide a platform for discussion, for innovation, for collaboration, so that everyone involved can learn and improve whatever they are doing (that's essentially the incentive for participating).
The NORA framework provides an initial way of indexing the vast material out there, but tagging with keywords and location and other geographic tags, cross-linking to related pages, and so forth will also be an integral part of the project. Most of this work will have to be done by the members of the network, but particularly at the more general levels (e.g., talking about how to manage water resources in general, or about the characteristics of organizational forms that are needed for them to be regarded as commons-based or commons), there will need to be a lot of input by the people running the CAN organization."
