Bio

"Prof. Dr. Margrit Kennedy while in charge of ecology and energy research in the preparatory group for the International Building Exhibition Berlin 1987 discovered that within the present money system it is virtually impossible to reconcile ecology and economy on the scale required.

Following her discovery of a fundamental flaw in the present monetary system and how it can be cured, she has been dealing with this topic and predicting the present crisis for over 25 years. In her two books „Interest and Inflation Free Money – Creating an exchange medium that works for everybody and protects the earth“, 1987 (translated into 22 languages) and „Regionalwährungen – Neue Wege zu nachhaltigem Wachstum“, 2004 together with B. Lietaer (Regional Currencies - New Paths Sustainable Growth" available in German, French and Spanish), she explores the systemic problems of the present system and the advantages of using new complementary monetary designs.

The main thrust of her present work is the implementation of practical examples of regional and sectoral complementary currencies in Europe and the definition and introduction of the concepts of the “Financial Commons” and the “Post-Growth-Economy”. Her work in this field has been instrumental for the start of more than 60 regional currency initiatives in the German speaking parts of Europe."
