Why Subscriptions?

Regular donations allow the Foundation to pursue sustained attention to specific initiatives. Many members of our network can afford to support the Foundation with small amounts each month. Subscriptions offer an easy way for donors to continually support the work of the Foundation with little or no maintenance.

We are currently accepting subscription payments through Paypal. Providing a monthly donation helps us to forecast our activities for the year and brings a great deal of additional security to our operations.

Listed below are links to start a donation in varying amounts. These donation subscriptions require a Paypal account which takes a few minutes to set up. After some consideration this seems to be an adequate trade-off.

We very much appreciate your taking the time to show your support.

There are a lot of ways to manage donations and fundraising. The approach taken here has some advantages and disadvantages, but it does meet a number of our requirements for ease of use for both the Foundation and subscribers. The benefits of this method of managing subscriptions are:

  1. Donors are in complete control of the subscription, able to start or stop their subscription at any time.
  2. Low fees for the funds transfers, no need to pay a monthly fee to accept credit cards
  3. No additional software required for the management of subscriptions
  4. Easy to set and maintain for everyone involved

Drawbacks are few, but, the fact that donors will need a Paypal account is an important one. The lowest transfer fees come from bank transfers, and that means that a donor will need to set up their bank account for transfers if they haven't already.

We are looking into supporting donations with iDeal in Europe, allowing donors with European banking accounts to easily transfer donations online. If you have other ideas about how to make any of this easier please let us know.
