Description

"Community Development Finance Initiatives (CDFIs) provide loans and support to businesses and individuals, helping people who have trouble getting finance from mainstream sources and to grow prosperity and opportunities in disadvantaged communities. CDFIs lent a record £113 million in 2009, up 50% from the previous year. The value of CDFI loan applications rose to £360 million in 2009 (from £160 million in 2008). They created and sustained around 10,000 jobs in 2009, and around 96,000 jobs cumulatively. The CDFI loan portfolio stands at £394 million."
