Project for a coworking hub and conferencing facility in Chiangmai, Thailand, by Michel Bauwens

Description

" In the summer of 2010, I will be opening a Chiangmai Commons coworking hub and conferencing facility, with very preferential treatment of actors in the field of open and free knowledge/software/design, as well as participatory and commons oriented activities. Half of the space will be for coworking (time rent instead of place rent), the other for videoconferencing and other common events. I will start with some start of cultural festival in the summer, dedicated to 'social innovation'. I'm not very well linked with Thai networks, but have a pretty good global network through my work at the P2P Foundation. So, I would really like cooperation from the hacker community in chiangmai and thailand, and see how different projects can reinforce each other. The bottom row of the pictures below shows the building, which we will finish starting in april. It is located soi 1 on chotana road, very easy access from the superhighway and 15 minutes from the city center, it's right at Kuang Sin intersection."

Details

The building will combine:

  • a coworking hub
  • a conferencing facility
  • own educational and cultural events, both aimed at local region, and global p2p community
