Bio

"LESLIE CHAN is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough, where he is the Programme Supervisor for the New Media Studies Programme and the International Studies Programme. Since 2000, Leslie has served as the Associate Director of Bioline International, a non-profit, multi-partners electronic service that provide an open access platform for some 60 journals from various developing countries, many of them in the areas of health and food sciences. Leslie was one of the original signatories of the Budapest Open Access Initiative and he has been active in research and practices on new models of scholarly communication and knowledge dissemination. Leslie serves on a number of boards, including the Advisory Board of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network and the Canadian Association of Learned Journals."
