In addition to focusing on the says-us project, I am currently working in my 4th career as a psychotherapist on the North Shore of Boston, MA, USA. I am also working with others to organize mental health workers through Clinicians United – SEIU 509.
I practice therapy within a relational, collaborative, critical, and community orientation. I was part of successful efforts by teachers, parents, students, and administrators to both bring more collaborative practices into a high school and to remove an anxiety generating, racist and abusive administrator. Both changes helped improve the mental health of the entire school.
My 1st career was as an assistant editor of educational films. For my 2nd, I was as a machinist at General Electric and an activist in IUE 201 in Lynn, MA where I participated in successful efforts to end General Electric practices of open racism, to win greater worker safety, and to make the union leadership more democratic. See “A Rank & File Strike at GE” in this 1978 issue of Radical America.
My 3rd career was working for 19 years in Boston area software organizations where I learned to become a collaborative manager.
