Lucas Lemos is a Spanish expat residing in Estonia since 2009. Entrepreneurial, inquisitive, and creative, they work at the intersection of technology, governance systems, and community empowerment. They envision a future where technology empowers communities and builds resilient, collaborative systems on our planet and beyond. Their research explores collaborative technology and institutional innovation, focusing on grassroots organisations and outer space commons.

Driven by their vision, they co-founded Commons Kernel Lab (2024) to advance research and initiatives in collaborative technology and community-driven innovation. They have also collaborated with grassroots space technology communities like ESTCube from Estonia and Libre Space from Greece, aiming to start a space commons research lab in the near future.

Lucas holds an MA in Technology Governance from TalTech (2019) and is currently completing their PhD research on grassroots technology initiatives in outer space. They served as Board Member and Administrative Director at Fab City Foundation (2018-2024), research fellow at TalTech’s Ragnar Nurkse Department of Innovation and Governance (2019-2023), visiting lecturer at MSc Design & Technology Futures (2022-2025), and fellow at the P2P Lab (2019-2025).

They invite researchers and practitioners to connect regarding potential collaborations in technology governance, space commons, and community empowerment.
