Introduction to User Pages and Biography pages on the P2P Foundation Wiki

If you plan to do some editing on this wiki it's useful to add some information about yourself. This can aid others in understanding your perspective, and help collaboration. You can use your User and Biography page to write a bit about yourself, your interests, and also give folks a chance to contact you. Your user page also has a "Talk" or "Discussion" section, which may be used for messages to the person whose page it is.

User Page

Every user account has a user page, and you can see your own by clicking on your username link, at the very top of each page, towards the right.

You can see other users through the User List, which is quite long; a shorter and more useful list is of the active users. If the user has created their user page, it will show up as a blue link.

Bio Page

Some users are content with just a user page, but if you want to say more about yourself as a "commoner" or P2P person, then you can create your own Bio page, using your real name.

Extending your Biography page

There are a number of categories on the wiki. Some of these are for people. The Category:Bios page is one such category. It contains a list of people related to P2P. In order to get your page listed there you must add the Category:Bios tag to the bottom of your page. This is done automatically for you. You can also add others, the following categories:

Redirecting your Biography page

If you are an editor and would like to keep all your information in one place you can easily keep a biography page and a user page up to date by redirecting your biography page to your user page. This is done by using the following tag at the top of your biography page, and substituting your username where is says "username."

#REDIRECT [[User:username]]

This is a really easy way to add your bio page to network categories, and to user your user page to the fullest potential.

Spruce up your "User" page

As soon as you are logged into the site add a few links to that first page you land on. You could start by adding a link to your name like:

Then save the page, and you can see a red link, right?

Adjust your preferences

Once you save your user page, click on the preference link in the top right corner. These are your site preferences.
