= National MAGIC Initiative for municipalities in South Africa

Description

"The Consortium of Climate Smart Solutions (CCSS) is the governing body for the Management of Applied Green Initiatives and Concepts operating In South Africa as the National MAGIC Initiative ™ for municipalities.

It is a unique and value innovation cooperative structure which covers the fields of Sustainable Development and focuses on the Public Sector constituency.


The National MAGIC Initiative addresses the complete horizontal value chain of services for municipalities to be effective and performing in the seven following sectors:

 Agroecology  Waste  Energy  Water  Community Livelihoods  Mobility  Infrastructure


The delivery of the programs are done through a partnership between CCSS/ DCoG/CENLED & is build around cooperation protocols with each relevant stakeholders, which defined the KPA’s of their contribution to the MAGIC to prevent duplication, double dipping &replication of efforts.

The operational, organizational &structural functioning & delivery mechanism of all the programs is done through the Management of Applied Green Initiatives and Concepts (MAGIC) cooperative, which is the first cooperative of this type, to demonstrate a move towards a solidarity economy, working from the “bottom up”, where community – based cooperatives partner with Municipalities in the services delivery and the implementation of programs."
