Currently I am thinking about ways to build commons, without having a community first: http://publicprivateproperty.org
In 2000 I've started to collect "empowering technologies" etc in a somehow semantic wiki (http://coforum.de, german language).

I was collecting projects working towards a "p2p-culture" on http://coforum.de, where you also can find contact data: http://coforum.de/?ThomasKalka
I'm watching the evolution of theory about commons, emergent technology, open content, semantic technology, community building, open space.

Hi thomas, I don't mind you create new categories (though I'm doubting they will be maintained at all), but not by removing them from the categories to which they also belong .. there is no sign also  to subcategories from say the music category, from which they disappeared, making them unfindable to category visitors)

=the future of our wiki=

regarding your question, the biggest change I'd like to achieve in 2010, is a beautification of the wiki, i.e. a unified style with our blog

and

the creation of topic channels which combine wiki, blog and tag updates on a same broad topic

styling should not be very difficult.

imho it would be very interesting, to join your delicius collection with the wiki,
which would be a first step towards "topic channels"

how about my old suggestion, to install the semantic extension into this wiki ?

this would ad a lot of benefits,
like inline queries (look for example http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/List_of_Hacker_Spaces)
and the oportunity to create a semantic network to filter "topic channels"

hi thomas, I don't see what's special about these hacker pages? I'm open to semantic extension, provided we can experiment its effects on a small scale first .. can we try?

the benefit of using semantic extension, as the example should show, is that you can do inline queries inside pages.
at example http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/List_of_Hacker_Spaces you have a sortable list and also a map of hackerspaces, which
are both build by an inline querry, different to a lot of lists here, where you put information on an overview page, and have to put
the same information on the individual page too.
For example using semantic extension, you can show a list of next events (like conferences etc) on the main page, and also
on Country pages, where there are filtered by country.

You can also build relations between pages, like sub-concept of , to build a [[Topic Map]] which can be used to aggregate streams.

you've convinced me .. so, how should we try this out ... James Burke should be involved as he manages the hosting etc.. --michel

I can assist James to setup the semantic extension.
perhaps he could create a sandbox for me, where I setup everything.

In 2000 I've started to collect "empowering technologies" etc in a somehow semantic wiki (http://coforum.de, german language).
