Bio

"Joanne Richardson studied philosophy, literature, and film & video at NYU and Duke University, and is currently working in Cluj, Romania as a theorist, video artist and program director of D Media (www.dmedia.ro), a media art NGO. She is the editor of Subsol (subsol.c3.hu), a webzine on activist art and media theory, and of two books: Voices from the Global Digital Resistance (Autonomedia, NY, 2003) and Cultura Digitala (Idea, Cluj, 2004). She has written essays on social movements, political art, experimental film and video, tactical media, free software and copyleft. She has made several documentaries and experimental videos on globalization, nationalism, postcommunist transition, activism, migration and precarious labour."
