Peter Suber's Public Knowledge has been focusing on information policy. Suber is also a Research Professor of Philosophy at Earlham College and Senior Researcher at the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC).  He has a Ph.D. in philosophy and a J.D. from Northwestern University. He is the author of the SPARC Open Access Newsletter and editor of the Open Access News weblog.  He was the principal drafter of the Budapest Open Access Initiative, and sits on the Steering Committee of the Scientific Information Working Group of the U.N. World Summit on the Information Society, the Publishing Working Group of Science Commons, the Advisory Board of American Library Association Information Commons, and the Board of Governors of the International Consortium for the Advancement of Academic Publishing. Peter Suber (born November 8, 1951) is the creator of the game Nomic and a leader in the open access movement. He is a research professor of philosophy at Earlham College, the open access project director at Public Knowledge, and a senior researcher at SPARC.

Suber graduated from Earlham College in 1973, received a PhD in Philosophy in 1978 and a JD in 1982, both from Northwestern University. He worked as a stand-up comic from 1976 to 1981, including an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1976.
