Curtis M. Davis, R.A. is the founding Principal of ReBuildit Collaborative, a city building advisory service. Former public clients include The National Land Agency of Japan, The Boston Redevelopment Authority, The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, and the Fort Wayne, Indiana Office of City Planning. Private Institutional clients have included Come As You Are Community Church, Fort Wayne, IN and Pilgrim Journey Missionary Baptist Church, Richmond, TX. He is a registered Architect and Urban Planner that specializes in, Regional Planning, Urban Design, Community Development and Facility Capital Program Management.
Mr. Davis is an Adjunct Professor in Construction & Design Technology at Houston Community College and was a Visiting Associate Professor of Architecture and Community Development at the Prairie View A&M University School of Architecture. Prior to that, he was a Project Executive for the Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Planning and Project Management in Washington, DC. His responsibilities included the project planning, facility programming, designer selection, and construction services planning phases for the new National Museum of African American History and Culture. Other positions previously held and located in Boston, MA include:
• Director of MetroFuture, a regional growth planning initiative of the Boston Metropolitan Area Planning Council;
• Director of Construction Management for the John Hancock Real Estate Investment Group, overseeing capital investments for a $5B commercial real estate portfolio;
• Director of Design & Engineering for the Central Artery / Third Harbor Tunnel Project in Boston, MA, a $14.5 B highway & city infrastructure reconstruction project of the Massachusetts Highway Dept. ; and
• Development Architect for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Executive Office of Communities & Development, assisting housing authorities throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the planning, design and construction of housing for families, the elderly and groups with a variety of special needs. Davis has taught urban design, been a thesis advisor for Masters Degree Candidates in Architecture and a Board Overseer at the Boston Architectural College (BAC). He has also served on the boards of many community service organizations including the Boston Civic Design Commission (Mayoral appointee to Boston Redevelopment Authority Project Review Board), United South End Settlement House (110+ year old Human Service Non-Profit) and the Episcopal City Mission (Social Service Foundation of the Boston Archdiocese). Mr. Davis earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Rice University, Houston, TX, and a Masters Degree in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Cambridge, MA. He has completed professional certificate programs in Real Estate Development, Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) Valuation and Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) Analysis from the MIT Center for Real Estate, Cambridge, MA.
