Hi Michel!
Hope you have had a good touchdown to Bangkok..
I know you start your deep dive tomorrow.. All the best!

I realised I am not able to give curated version of events there, as I only saw a small portion..

http://okfestival.org/
http://okfestival.org/onlineschedule

http://okfestival.org/streams/

But you'll find that each topic stream now has some embedded documentations, so you can get an overview a bit better now..
for example: http://okfestival.org/open-development/

These where the only events I saw & can share saying I know whats in them were the following ..

Icelandic Constitution + Panel on Open Democracy

Another important Riegel essay is, Breaking the English Tradition, which years ago I embedded, with my comments in a post to my other website Reinventingmoney.com. That post titled, The Politics of Money, can be download at http://www.reinventingmoney.com/documents/BreakingEnglishTradition.pdf.

Interesting graph on growth inequality, for US :

http://stateofworkingamerica.org/who-gains/#/?start=1985&end=2008

( with sliding scales )

Between 1985 and 2008,
the richest 10 percent got 95 percent of the growth ;
the bottom 90 percent shared 5 percent of the growth

Alain Wouters Thank you for asking Michel !
What I can see and am actively pursuing myself is:

(1) help provide VISIBILITY to the concept (DDM) and its availability NOW (www.melotte.be):
(a) by mentioning them (viral meming!) to stakeholders I encounter (industry, government, regulators & potential clients for them);
(b) by looking for/creating opportunities in 'leverage Forums' where Mario Fleurinck (their CEO) can talk/present his (powerful) story;
(2) send Mario RELEVANT INFORMATION that can help him further his mission;
(3) include melotte.be in LEARNING JOURNEYS I organise for my own clients (companies/governments) that want to learn about new/more viable way of doing things;
(4) contribute to NETWORK Mario directly with influentuial stakeholders (investors, client companies)
(5) sending LIGHT & LOVE to Mario in support of his mission/work in this world;
(6) BEING there when he needs help.

On another front, I've just written a historical piece, at the request of the editors of Self & Society, the journal of the Association for Humanistic Psychology in the UK. The title is 'My early engagement with humanistic psychology' and covers the period 1970 to 1985 (see http://www.human-inquiry.com/jhS&Sfinal2.pdf). It launches a new series in the journal on the very early days.

In 1970, humanistic psychology, with its focus on self-actualization, exactly met the needs of the day for change-agents like myself. In 2012, it has long since expanded in my worldview into participatory psychology, with a focus on the need for relational-actualization, learning how to live in a universe of multi-dimensional relational dynamics.

Penny Travlou:

"The project looks at how the Digital Manual can be a paradigm for exploring multi-authorship, co-creation and publication in other digitised textual forms as well as how it can have relevance to the analogue book and serve as a premise to learn valuable lessons. Specifically, it explores authority, authorship and voice within this expanded domain of writing. It investigates both the structures of power (e.g. hierarchy, heterarchy, peer to peer, etc.) within creative communities as well as the authority and power of the manual itself, within and outside these communities (e.g. the relationship of the ‘manual’ with current regulatory frameworks, such as Intellectual Property law and, in particular, copyright). The project looks at four communities of digital artists/practitioners: FakePress (www.fakepress.it), Sauti Ya Wakulima (www.sautiyawakulima.net), UpStage (www.upstage.org.nz) and FLOSS Manuals (www.flossmanuals.org)."

What is often called ‘digital piracy’ is nowadays a mundane and everyday activity. As such, piracy is a commonplace disorder within the order of information capitalism; it is both created by the ubiquitous orders of information capitalism and suppressed by those orders. In the myriad points of view of its participants piracy represents an order which is implicit within contemporary life, which we will call ‘pirarchy’.
The attached chapter entitled ‘Piracy is Normal, Piracy is Boring: systemic disruption as everyday life’ by Francesca da Rimini and Jonathan Marshall was written for the book Piracy: Leakages from Modernity edited by Martin Fredriksson and James Arvanitakis (Litwin Press, USA, forthcoming 2012, http://litwinbooks.com/piracy.php).

For the first time in history, the mainstream left has no progressive agenda. It has forgotten a basic principle. Every progressive political movement has been built on the anger, needs and aspirations of the emerging major class. Today that class is the precariat.

the MIT study group's Sustainable Economic Democracy document looks at Mondragon and a Cleveland initiative called the Evergreen Cooperative. Evergreen and Mondragon are quite different, many coop developers dont actually think the Evergreen project is a coop, as one of the principles is independence, Evergreen is run by the city and foundations, but does have many features of Mondragon.

Each point in the map will have an article about the initiative. I have direct contacts with each one of them, and much more others. I interviewed more than 50 people (local communities leaders, social entrepreneurs, NGO specialist, etc) and gathered about 500 contacts.

If you have time, check also some examples of the articles I am writing, for now only in Spanish but soon in English, to have an idea of my work: http://pangeasostenible.org/2012/01/prainha-do-canto-verde-ceara-brasil/ , http://pangeasostenible.org/2012/01/taller-de-estudios-para-la-mejora-del-habitat-filadelfia-paraguay/ , http://pangeasostenible.org/2012/01/la-base-buenos-aires-argentina/ . As you will see, this is a collaborative project: social entrepreneurs and local communities can send articles about their own initiatives and we have correspondents ready to work (once the website is done) in several Latin American cities.

Hi Michel! Hope you have had a good touchdown to Bangkok.. I know you start your deep dive tomorrow.. All the best!

I realised I am not able to give curated version of events there, as I only saw a small portion..

http://okfestival.org/ http://okfestival.org/onlineschedule

http://okfestival.org/streams/

But you'll find that each topic stream now has some embedded documentations, so you can get an overview a bit better now.. for example: http://okfestival.org/open-development/

These where the only events I saw & can share saying I know whats in them were the following ..

Icelandic Constitution + Panel on Open Democracy http://okfestival.org/icelandic-constitution-open-democracy-in-practice/ http://bambuser.com/v/2995524

Data Journalism and Data Visualization: Hans Rosling’s presentation http://okfestival.org/hans-rosling/ http://bambuser.com/v/2996396

Life in the urban panopticon http://okfestival.org/life-in-the-urban-panopticon/ http://bambuser.com/v/2996439

Open Design, Hardware, Manufacturing & Making Policies for Open Design, FabLabs, Open Manufacturing and Making.

Between 1985 and 2008, the richest 10 percent got 95 percent of the growth ; the bottom 90 percent shared 5 percent of the growth

Alain Wouters Thank you for asking Michel ! What I can see and am actively pursuing myself is:

(1) help provide VISIBILITY to the concept (DDM) and its availability NOW (www.melotte.be): (a) by mentioning them (viral meming!) to stakeholders I encounter (industry, government, regulators & potential clients for them); (b) by looking for/creating opportunities in 'leverage Forums' where Mario Fleurinck (their CEO) can talk/present his (powerful) story; (2) send Mario RELEVANT INFORMATION that can help him further his mission; (3) include melotte.be in LEARNING JOURNEYS I organise for my own clients (companies/governments) that want to learn about new/more viable way of doing things; (4) contribute to NETWORK Mario directly with influentuial stakeholders (investors, client companies) (5) sending LIGHT & LOVE to Mario in support of his mission/work in this world; (6) BEING there when he needs help.

In 2012, it has long since expanded in my worldview into participatory psychology, with a focus on the need for relational-actualization, learning how to live in a universe of multi-dimensional relational dynamics.

excerpt blog article on big shift and social ent: http://confusedofcalcutta.com/2012/05/30/thinking-about-the-big-shift-and-the-social-enterprise/

- For the first time in history, the mainstream left has no progressive agenda. It has forgotten a basic principle. Every progressive political movement has been built on the anger, needs and aspirations of the emerging major class. Today that class is the precariat.

- the MIT study group's Sustainable Economic Democracy document looks at Mondragon and a Cleveland initiative called the Evergreen Cooperative. Evergreen and Mondragon are quite different, many coop developers dont actually think the Evergreen project is a coop, as one of the principles is independence, Evergreen is run by the city and foundations, but does have many features of Mondragon.

-

- Each point in the map will have an article about the initiative. I have direct contacts with each one of them, and much more others. I interviewed more than 50 people (local communities leaders, social entrepreneurs, NGO specialist, etc) and gathered about 500 contacts.

-

- If you have time, check also some examples of the articles I am writing, for now only in Spanish but soon in English, to have an idea of my work: http://pangeasostenible.org/2012/01/prainha-do-canto-verde-ceara-brasil/ , http://pangeasostenible.org/2012/01/taller-de-estudios-para-la-mejora-del-habitat-filadelfia-paraguay/ , http://pangeasostenible.org/2012/01/la-base-buenos-aires-argentina/ . As you will see, this is a collaborative project: social entrepreneurs and local communities can send articles about their own initiatives and we have correspondents ready to work (once the website is done) in several Latin American cities.
