For over 30 years Charles Mallea, as a registered architect, has been involved in all aspects of the architectural and design profession. Developing in-depth experience in the development, design, and management of most types of architectural, interior and design projects.
Charles Mallea is a practicing architect and educator.   A chance reading in the late 1970’s of Fritz Schumacher’s “Small is Beautiful” led him into a lifelong pursuit of the values of appropriate technology as key aspects of good design.


Charles attended the architecture program of Pratt Institute, a university that in the late 70’s still operated under the social and environmental legacy of the student revolutions of the 1960’s by proposing socially and ecologically responsible design solutions.
Living in New York City during Hurricane Sandy has highlighted the pressing need to apply the values of decentralization and local control to the urban environment in order to strengthen resilience in the built environment.
