I am a social worker by profession, though i work with disadvantaged communities rather than with individuals and families. In my work i encourage communities to gain independence from the 'normal' means of production and from consumption patterns: these actually increase dependence on corporations and by default reduce the ability of individuals, families and communities from moving away from poverty.
