I am a practitioner/researcher/advocate in the areas of gender and livelihoods, commons and Natural resources. I also work on issues of education. Much of my work experience in the past 30 years has been in supproting small organizations and CBOs/ peoples organizations to claim rights to NR and to gain agency in their struggles against poverty and alienation in multiple ways. My work has largely been with womens groups as well as with resource centres/NGOs that seek to promote or adopt a gender based approach to enabling the marginalized people to gain voice, rights and justice. Strategies I adopt are capacity building, action research, organization building towards gender equality,policy research and advocacy. In my view it is necessary for those working with communities to enable them to place their issues and perspectives in the policy discourse and to influence the course of decisions that impact their lives
