Bio

Gwendal Simon received his PhD degree in Computer Science in december 2004 after three years at both France Telecom R&D (with Joaquin Keller) and IRISA (with Michel Raynal, Emmanuelle Anceaume and Maria Gradinariu). During his PhD, he most notably conceived and developed the Solipsis system -- a decentralized shared virtual world -- which received a worldwide attention culminating at Codecon 2004.

He then worked as a researcher at France Telecom R&D for almost two years. He co-founded the Netofpeers initiative whose purpose is to develop open-source decentralized systems and he initiated the creation of a large consortium, namely Overcrowded, to widely open this initiative. In a multi-disciplinary project on spontaneous networks, he was responsible for the research activities related to peer-to-peer systems. He implemented a strong collaboration with the INRIA research group Gyroweb to form a noteworthy national research team in this area.

Since September 2006, he is assistant-professor at ENST-Bretagne, a graduate engineering school affiliated to GET. (http://enstb.org/~gsimon/)
