Description

Benedikt Seidel:

"We will build a Fab City House where we open source fab lab's and circular economy lab's inventories. That shall enable to scale them across Hamburg (at first) thru build-workshops that form communities that run these labs afterwards with the machinery they have built themselves. The labs will be connected thru shared digital infrastructure, which shall also be used by other fab cities globally creating a federated digital infrastructure. This digital and physical infrastructure shall empower them to produce (design global, manufacture local) open source hardware in a distributed way. The harbor's (public entity!) future role is to provide infrastructure to export and import bits instead of physical goods. So, moving atoms locally with high marginal costs enables local value creation for the many, while global connection thru bits being open and copied at low marginal cost enables competitiveness against the extractive and rent-seeking actors."
