"Ynternet.org aim is to promote eCulture, understood as codes of conducts within digital environment.

The preambule of its status includes a detailled description of this vision of STPDE develop and promote methodologies and platforms for cooperation projects through the Internet, providing equity of chances, promoting freedom of speech and quality standards in a knowledge economy and an information society.

Our formal mission statement is to define and promote eCulture, and it's links to Free Culture communities in digital environment : Free license, Free Software, Free documentations, Free Art, Free methodologies...

The name Ynternet.org asks the question « why Internet? ». We believe that « the Internet has emerged in our industrial society to answer to the need of a positive and long term globalisation process, within inter-connected social networks ».

Its activities include research and training for common good in the information society:

- Theorical research on STPDE and related issues, as well as applicative research for civil society

- ID, trust & reputation processes for individuals and organisations, with augmented ePortfolios approaches

- eLearning, programmes for digital fluency and medias strategist

- International research and/or training programmes with various consortiums (example : www.wikiskills.net)

- User's guides and sensibilisation campaigns within it's wiki publication «citoyens du net » ISSN 1664-4158

We believe that the social part of IT is the key issue for Ynternet.org. It means the key in this digitalised world are behaviours (the culture). This is why we concentrate on identifying, evaluating, empowering and spreading training modules, eLearning tools, virtual community contents management, conferences & workshops on eCulture, articles & publications...


Ynternet.org partners are as much governemental bodies (Swiss Secretariat for Education & research, Education Audivisual and Culture Executive Agency at EU) as international NGOs and United Nations (UN) System organization." 'L'Association Ynternet.org a été créée en 1998, à l'invitation du Département fédéral des affaires étrangères de la Confédération suisse, pour favoriser la coopération internationale par Internet. Sa première réalisation a été l'installation d'un réseau de coopération internationale intitulé Cooperation.net, visant à fournir durablement des services Internet de base pour les francophones sensibles à la valeur de la solidarité et pour faciliter leurs collaborations à distance sur des projets. En 2006, Cooperation.net est l'un des principaux fournisseurs de services Internet solidaires francophones, avec près de 20'000 articles et plus de 10'000 membres utilisateurs (organisations et personnes réparties sur plus de 35 pays).

En réussissant à installer durablement un tel réseau de coopération, l'équipe de l'Association Ynternet.org a développé un important patrimoine d'informations, de savoir-faire socio-technique et de partenaires dans le domaine de la communication électronique, associant dynamique entrepreneuriale et sens du bien commun. La direction de l'Association Ynternet.org a décidé de valoriser ce patrimoine en passant ladite association en fondation sous l'égide de la Confédération suisse."
