I'm finding myself using "community-hosting" instead of "self-hosting", as I think it describes a more realistic scenario - at least in the short-medium term - where running servers is still a specialist role (like fixing cars of baking break), but many more people run servers, mostly for groups of people they personally know. Might be worth changing the title of this page to reflect that? --Strypey (talk) 07:34, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

scope of this page

Might be better to move the professional packages like Koha and Mahara to their own page, and maybe the stuff in the project management section too, and keep this list focused on packages that might be used to replace the gratis services hosted by datafarms like The Stacks, by families, groups of friends, or community organisations. --Strypey (talk) 07:34, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

I think you're the expert here, I'm happy to follow your judgment in these matters. However, for searchability, I personally prefer to keep filenames, but to add references and links to the new ones.

Makes sense. Maybe I'll create a new page using "community-hosting" for the more professional/ institutional packages. --Strypey (talk) 11:42, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
