Description

"PRECARIAT is a research project studying labour market deregulation in Europe focusing empirically into one of its most extreme cases: Greece.

With PRECARIAT we seek to develop a new comprehension of labour market that would be more appropriately linked with matters of inequality, social cohesion and social resilience in order to evaluate the effects of labour market restructuring policies.

Most of the existed measurements underestimate the social consequences and the everyday conditions around the workplaces when flexibility and precariousness are implemented.

PRECARIAT's overarching goal is to exceed the limitations that are imposed by most of the official measurements (e.g. EPL index) of labour market operation.

So we aim to provide a novel series of qualitatively and quantitatively comprehensive indicators that takes into account all the important social components of flexible labour markets.

PRECARIAT is based at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Vrije University Amsterdam, (Dept. of Social & Cultural Anthropology and Dept. of Sociology) and it is funded from a grant of the Institute of Societal Resilience and research funds from the two departmental research pools."
